Joel & Marion Smucker

Joel and Marion serve with House of Praise in Cape Town, South Africa. Their focus is to serve the youth of Cape Town. They do this by leading the youth group at House of Praise as well as various outreach programs. One of the more successful programs has been a cycle club which is a platform for mentoring young men. Many of the youth are “unchurched” and have come to know Christ only recently. In Cape Town, the youth unemployment rate is among the highest in the world, gangs and drug use are rife among adolescents, and many have one or both parents absent from their lives, so positive adult role models are vital. Joel and Marion see one of their main purposes to be mentoring the youth into adulthood and to empower them in any way they can, and above all, being ready to share the love of God and the message of the Gospel at every opportunity.
